  2. Hi Nakivo Is it possible to add MFA option for the Webinterface. I have some customers, where MFA is required for the backup. Thanks Mario

  3. The shortest way to integrate this without going vendor specific, is adding SAML 2.0. This would allow logins based on Microsoft 365 or other MFA vendors.

  6. It is something that i may be interested in but i would like to see a "how to" video on the process on your youtube. I saw that you have a "how to" video on amazon ec2 backups (which is old now by the way)

  7. Thank you. Someone from Nakivo Support helped me already. This is what I did: to increase java memory on NAKIVO application as following : 1. Stop NAKIVO service from the AppCenter 2. Connect to Synology via SSH using "root" 3. edit nkv-dirsvc file ( mostly that file is located in /volume1/@appstore/NBR/nkv-dirsvc ) and replace: SVC_OPTIONS="-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -server -XX:+AggressiveOpts -XX:-OmitStackTraceInFastThrow -Xnoagent -Xss320k -Xms128m -Xmx320m" with: SVC_OPTIONS="-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -server -XX:+AggressiveOpts -XX:-OmitStackT

  13. Hello, the following initial situation: - vmware ESXi 6.5 with 2 running VMs ( we'll call them VM01 and VM02 here) - Restoring a VM (VM02) from the old backup (ghetto-VCB) and rename it to VM02r This means that there are now 3 VMs on the host system - VM01 (running) - VM02 (running) - VM02r (still switched off) The backup job that is still scheduled for the backup of the VM02 has now not backed up the VM02, but the VM02r. I haven't changed anything in the job. In the NAKIVO inventory of the ESXi host, only VM01 and VM02r can now be seen (see NAKIVO-pictures). The VM02 i

  14. however there is still a missing link when comes to physical backup or proxmox VM backup. restoration only limited to vmware and hyperV. not other platform, that is why i have been asking for physical server or Bare metal restore options to be available. this would help us open up other market.

  15. I'm also highly interested in seeing KVM support being added, so that I could upgrade my license, adding my Proxmox workloads to the mix.

  19. Hello, for 2 days i have been trying to add a w10 pro machine and i have errors. first it was necessary to authorize access to c $ by adding a key in the registry. But since then I have the error "An internal error has occurred. Reason: cannot install transporter, code: -1, reason: command finished successfully (WindowsDeploymentServiceException)." I tried on several workstations, laptops, VMs and I have the same problem. Nakivo full is installed on a W10 pro workstation which is on the same network. If anyone has already succeeded and has a solution ...

  21. If I have Nakivo installed and running on a vm how do i back it up? I noticed that if i try to include the nakivo vm in any existing backup jobs i run into issues.

  22. I got an answer from Support which sparked a realization. I believe I have figured out the problem. The transporter instance size was much smaller than the target EC2 instance. I deployed a new transporter of a size that matched the target instance and kicked off the backup. It is running now and no errors so far, knock wood.

  23. Cool, I thought you were telling me that Ubuntu 16 was required on the appliance and that while I could patch it, I couldn't upgrade the OS. I'll plan to go to 18 as soon as I can. Thanks.

  24. My apologies, I forgot to reply here. Updating for anyone in the future. We upgraded NAKIVO B&R to v10.0.0 which resolved the issue. VM's are now all on Server 2019 hosts and boot verification is working as expected.

  25. Alright, let me explain my scenario I have a couple of Esxi hosts with 6 VMs on each I have 2 NFS Linux Storages ( storage1 an storage2) and nakivo running in one of those storages (storage2) locally Right now, if I want to backup a VM, it goes something like this: VMs get snapshotted, and new files are created on their respective storages Nakivo starts copying the files to the repository, BUT, its goes like this storage1 -> esxi host -> nakivo repository (storage2) storage2 -> esxi host -> nakivo repository (storage2) Instead of going

  28. Is there any step by step manual to do any (workaround) physical recovery? Like booting Windows machine from VHD(x)? We sold Physical Backup to our customer after Ransomware attack, because quick PC recovery, but without P2P recovery it seems useless. Thank you.

  29. The RDX is a network device, you see the web interface here https://youtu.be/0Bvzh_RsBPM?t=1236. It looks like each drive or volume can be a iscsi target that could be connected to the nakivo server and then a backup repository could be created on those iscsi drive targets right?

  33. Hi, Is there any specific topic, where can I place a feature request? Being more precise - Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage integration, especially for backup copy job? Currently I'm syncing /opt/nakivo/repository to B2 bucket, but mounting this bucket as a backup repo returns an unknown error...

  35. I believe that the NFR license currently restricts to two CPU sockets. I intend to run Nakivo in my homelab however I have multiple nested VM hosts so I can't really test it out properly. Would it be possible to increase the number of sockets, or perhaps introduce an instance count?

  36. After Windows 10 did an automatic upgrade from 1909 to 2004 nkivo B&R couldn't mount the Backup Repo (on Synology NAS) anymore. Error was: User/Password incorrect. Tried with another User, with another password, with another share name... Didn't work out... So I went back to Windows 10 1909... and it's working again... Regards Joerg

  37. if any of you guys planning to use dedupe on windows server 2019, here is some results i am getting during the backup. i have configure my server to backup without compression and dedupe enable, and with dedupe appliance option enable. here is some interesting results to share. not sure is this the best result i can get on windows server deuplication comparing it to built in dedupe. both runs using post processing deduplication.

  38. i would like to know if we configure AWS S3 as target repository. during backup, or backup copy job, does the transporter store local copy before uploading to AWS? or it will directly upload to S3? will there be a local cache copy during S3 transmission?

  39. I would like to seek your advise on the following. Is there any reason why the S3 storage option only allow full backup incremental. But not continuous incremental? This way it will remove the dedupe capability.

  41. Like any other password VMware ESX Server root password can be lost or forgotten. Of course, it can cause problems with control over your hosts. Find out how to reset an ESXi root password without reinstalling ESXi on the server here: https://www.nakivo.com/blog/best-way-reset-esxi-default-password

  46. NAKIVO software is designed to make consistent backups. So, the backup Job has higher priority for the customer/software than the maintenance run. When you select "Stop backup and recovery to run space reclaim" option, this paradigm has a conflict with NAKIVO priority. As a result: software uses your settings but sends the notifications.
