  3. Anyone else have problems with Grand-Father-Son (GFS) retention scheme not working as expected? Daily backups work correctly and the retention is correct, but instead of getting weekly and Monthly backups, all my Full backups are set to yearly week after week at both my sites where I have tape libraries. (They expire 11 years from now) I opened a ticket, but they were not able to tell me anything and claimed that everything was working fine. At the time I was not doing daily backups, so I turned that on and they work, but they didn't affect my problem with yearly backups, so for now I'm turning it off to see what happens with just weekly and monthly backups. These are my settings: Retain one recovery point per day for 7 days Retain one recovery point per week for 4 weeks Retain one recovery point per month for 12 months Retain one recovery point per year for 11 years Tape Job Options: Create Full Backup: Every Saturday Tape appending: Start full backup with an empty tape** **I found that now that daily backups are turned on, Nakivo will start writing daily backups to my Full Backup tape before I get a chance to eject it. This is not desirable, but there is no options to segregate GFS tapes. Setting this to "Always start with an empty tape" would burn a tape each day, also not desirable, but I may have no choice. I would like to append all daily backups to the same tape and keep it in the library and only offsite my weekend full backups.

  4. In a multi-tenant environment, if vpn drops for any reasons (isp problem, customer's ac problem, etc) the sheduled jobs will start in time or they will wait director command to start? thank's and best regards

  5. Hi Nakivo Is it possible to add MFA option for the Webinterface. I have some customers, where MFA is required for the backup. Thanks Mario

  6. The shortest way to integrate this without going vendor specific, is adding SAML 2.0. This would allow logins based on Microsoft 365 or other MFA vendors.

  10. Thank you. Someone from Nakivo Support helped me already. This is what I did: to increase java memory on NAKIVO application as following : 1. Stop NAKIVO service from the AppCenter 2. Connect to Synology via SSH using "root" 3. edit nkv-dirsvc file ( mostly that file is located in /volume1/@appstore/NBR/nkv-dirsvc ) and replace: SVC_OPTIONS="-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -server -XX:+AggressiveOpts -XX:-OmitStackTraceInFastThrow -Xnoagent -Xss320k -Xms128m -Xmx320m" with: SVC_OPTIONS="-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -server -XX:+AggressiveOpts -XX:-OmitStackTraceInFastThrow -Xnoagent -Xss320k -Xms128m -Xmx640m" 4. Start NAKIVO service Thank you. Juraj.

  14. Either remotely collect it using Win SCP and edit it locally. Or use Vi. You just alter the 3 lines shown in the thread. You can do it remotely if you can ssh into box remotely (switch this on in VMWare).

  15. After a successfull backup of our file server (virtual), If I test a Recovery task, I cannot find data partition (bitlocker encrypted) but only o.s. partition is available for granular selection of files. Where I'm wrong ? backup size seems correct (1TB) but I can see only 3 parts; the most important (data part) seems has been skipped for some reason. Anybody experienced this issue ? Alex

  17. Hello, I did already sent a support bundle and the problem was solved online by support team. Great work! The problem was that the older installations which were updated from 9.x to 10.1 and then to 10.3 reported an outdated certificate. This was solved by renaming two files like described here in the thread. A newer installation which was updated from 10.1 to 10.3 did not have the problem. So our 3 sides are running well now. Thank you to all these guys here.

  18. Dear all, I have a problem when trying to install NAKIVO_Backup_Replication_v10.3.0.55051_Installer-FREE.sh under Ubuntu 20.04. I know that it isn't fully supported at the moment but the problem is at a very early step of the installation - I can't aeven see the EULA, it stops before this step. I tried with ./NAKIVO_Backup_Replication_v10.3.0.55051_Installer-FREE.sh as well as sudo ./NAKIVO_Backup_Replication_v10.3.0.55051_Installer-FREE.sh as well as sudo su and run ./NAKIVO_Backup_Replication_v10.3.0.55051_Installer-FREE.sh after that. Replace the certificate to continue using this transporter Why was a certificate workting till today, when it expired 6 month ago? @Official Moderator can you share the information on the forum so that everyone can benefit?

  21. Hello, @Mr.Ed! I am very sorry to hear that you didn't resolve your issue with the Support Team. Please continue the discussion in the opened ticket until your problem is fixed. Let me know when you find a solution for your case. As for appending all daily backups to the same tape and keeping it in the library while storing offsite your weekend full backups only, unfortunately, this feature isn't currently implemented. However, the feature request will be submitted to the Product Team.

  26. Hello, the following initial situation: - vmware ESXi 6.5 with 2 running VMs ( we'll call them VM01 and VM02 here) - Restoring a VM (VM02) from the old backup (ghetto-VCB) and rename it to VM02r This means that there are now 3 VMs on the host system - VM01 (running) - VM02 (running) - VM02r (still switched off) The backup job that is still scheduled for the backup of the VM02 has now not backed up the VM02, but the VM02r. I haven't changed anything in the job. In the NAKIVO inventory of the ESXi host, only VM01 and VM02r can now be seen (see NAKIVO-pictures). The VM02 is no longer in the inventory and can therefore no longer be selected for a backup. What can be the reason for this phenomenon? How do I get back to the VM02 without deleting the VM02r from the host? Thx for Help Jens

  27. Hello, for 2 days i have been trying to add a w10 pro machine and i have errors. first it was necessary to authorize access to c $ by adding a key in the registry. But since then I have the error "An internal error has occurred. Reason: cannot install transporter, code: -1, reason: command finished successfully (WindowsDeploymentServiceException)." I tried on several workstations, laptops, VMs and I have the same problem. Nakivo full is installed on a W10 pro workstation which is on the same network. If anyone has already succeeded and has a solution ...

  30. I got an answer from Support which sparked a realization. I believe I have figured out the problem. The transporter instance size was much smaller than the target EC2 instance. I deployed a new transporter of a size that matched the target instance and kicked off the backup. It is running now and no errors so far, knock wood.

  35. Hi Team, i am excited for the AWS S3 storage integration which will be coming on V9.4. however, i was thinking if there are anyway we could use compatible S3 instead of AWS. i would like to test it out with S3 Compatible like Mimio or Wasabi Storage if there are options for it. thanks. i am also interested to explore if there are anyway i could change that configuration for AWS S3 on NBR to use other S3 storage. thanks. regards, leezy

  36. We want to upgrade multiple directors and transporters from v.9 to 10. What is the minimal set of options to run unattended NAKIVO_Backup_Replication_v10*_Updater.sh and keep all current settings for a 1. single tenant installation, 2. multi tenant installation? Thanks.

  38. I believe that the NFR license currently restricts to two CPU sockets. I intend to run Nakivo in my homelab however I have multiple nested VM hosts so I can't really test it out properly. Would it be possible to increase the number of sockets, or perhaps introduce an instance count?

  45. You are right, director could work with newer version of transporter, but cannot work with older version. We recommend to run update with the following steps: 1. Update manually remote transporters - NAS transporters - Linux based transporters that are added as "installed service" - manually installed and added Windows based transporters In this case there will not be any downtime, as director will be able to work with newer version of transporter. 2. Update Director. In this case all remaining transporters will be updated automatically: - Hyper-V transporters - physical transporters - Linux based transporters that are added as Virtual Appliance - AWS transporters

  48. Yes, it is possible to do so and delete backups in bulk, like: backups that do not belong to any job or backups older than etc. You can refer to NAKIVO User Guide article for more information regarding this ( https://helpcenter.nakivo.com/display/NH/Deleting+VM+Backups#DeletingVMBackups-DeletingBackupsinBulk )

  49. You can move the repository to a new location as it is described here https://helpcenter.nakivo.com/display/KB/Moving+Backup+Repository+to+a+New+Location or use backup copy job ( https://helpcenter.nakivo.com/display/NH/Backup+Copy , https://helpcenter.nakivo.com/display/NH/Creating+Backup+Copy+Jobs )
