Is that feature on the roadmap?

@Mr.Ed Thank you for your post. The encryption for tape is in the roadmap and is waiting for its turn. We don't have ETA for it yet and look forward to hearing any feedback from you soon.

Please add Nakivo Transporter 10.7.2 to the Synology App Store, or deploy a new .sh file.

The official Nakivo Update Package still doesn't support DSM7, what's the state in the verification process?

    Many thanks in advance.

Hello, @3STYLER NAKIVO team provides new versions to NAS teams as soon as they are released. Then, NAS manufacturer teams perform checks, verifications or whatever they need to do (we do not know exactly what) before publishing new versions in their app stores.

NAKIVO team has no influence on these processes and cannot speed up publishing new versions by NAS manufacturers. Please redirect this sort of questions to support of corresponding NAS.

    Hi

I'm doing some automation on my setup and like to batch generate some reports.

But I can't set the name of the output pdf, so if I run two command wihtin the same minute, they get overwritten

(cause the name contains only the hour and minute): job_report_Tue, 29 Nov at 13_20 (UTC +01_00).pdf

Can you add an argument to define the filename of the job?

    Example:

    cli.bat --tenant 42 -jp 12 -output myreport.pdf

    Thanks

    Mario

@Mario The best way would be to generate and send a support bundle (https://helpcenter.nakivo.com/display/NH/Support+Bundles) to support@nakivo.com so our Technical Support team can investigate it and forward your feature request to our Product Development team.

You can also open your inbox to answer additional questions and I will send the information dierectly for possible future implementation.

Hello @Jason Thank you for your answer.

To update NAKIVO to v10.7.2 on Synology x86_x64 with DSM7+ via SSH console, please check if your NAS is supported (https://helpcenter.nakivo.com/User-Guide/Content/Deployment/System-Requirements/Supported-NAS-Devices/Supported-Synology-NAS-Devices.htm) after that we would recommend you perform the following steps:

    1. Please, be sure that NBR version 10.6.1 is installed via Synology AppCenter.

    2. Download the newest NBR version installation script for Synology NAS, for example, for the x86_x64 platform (https://d96i82q710b04.cloudfront.net/res/product/DSM7/NAKIVO_Backup_Replication_v10.7.2.69768_Updater_Synology_x86_64.sh)

    3. Copy the downloaded file to your Synology somewhere, for example, to /tmp via WinCSP or SSH: cd /tmp && wget https://d96i82q710b04.cloudfront.net/res/product/DSM7/NAKIVO_Backup_Replication_v10.7.2.69768_Updater_Synology_x86_64.sh

    4. Stop NAKIVO services: Package center -- Installed -- NAKIVO -- Action -- Stop

    5. Connect to Synology via SSH (Putty) using an admin account.

    6. Get root privileges running the following command: sudo -i enter your admin password when prompted.

    7. Run the following commands to replace the existing NBR director with the newest version: chmod +x NAKIVO_Backup_Replication_v10.7.2.69768_Updater_Synology_x86_64.sh ./NAKIVO_Backup_Replication_v10.7.2.69768_Updater_Synology_x86_64.sh

    8. Start NAKIVO services if needed: Package center -- Installed -- NAKIVO -- Action -- Start

If you need help with updating, we can schedule a remote meeting.

We use the GoToMeeting application. We are looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards 👍

    Hi,

On my project list for next year is adding an air-gapped backup to my Nakivo solution. I'm looking for a low cost tape drive compatible with Nakivo but my usual vendors don't have much selection and everything I've found on the internet is rather out of date. Does anyone have a good solution for a low cost tape drive? I don't have a lot of capacity needs so I could probably get away with DLO-5. I'm looking into cloud backup as well but would rather keep the data on prem. I'm hoping to add a drive to a desktop, poweredge server or cheap NAS.

    Thanks!

This is out of NAKIVO Support. Make sure that the selected Tape Drive and attached point (physical machine) are met the requirements: https://helpcenter.nakivo.com/User-Guide/Content/Deployment/System-Requirements/Feature-Requirements.htm#Native

We are looking forward to your feedback. Should you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your email and the way in which I can install the new version of Nakivo. I have little experience with Linix, may be my question today. In point 1 you mention that an Update folder must be created. Do I have to be logged in to the DSM214+ via TTY first? This is only taken at point 4.

I did point 4 first, but then I don't see an opt folder; see the screenshot below. Is there anything else I need to do?

When do you expect Synology to approve your new version for DSM v7.1?

According to the latest improvements in DSM7, all installation packages should comply with more strict security requirements, than it was previously.
Synology does not allow updating the NAKIVO package manually on the Synology Web Console.
You need to install NAKIVO on Package Center and the latest version of NAKIVO on Package Center is 10.6.1. Currently, version 10.7.2 is being reviewed by the Synology team and it is expected to be available on Package Center soon.
You can update manually to the 10.7.2 version using .sh file via SSH console by performing the following steps:

    1. Install the NAKIVO version 10.6.1 via Synology AppCenter

    2. Download the newest NAKIVO version installation script for Synology NAS:

@John Leeuwis Thank you for your interest in NAKIVO! You can update via .ssh installers.

You can download them using these links:

    DSM 7+ updaters 10.7.1:

    x86_64

    https://d96i82q710b04.cloudfront.net/res/product/DSM7/NAKIVO_Backup_Replication_v10.7.1.69062_Updater_Synology_x86_64.sh

    https://d96i82q710b04.cloudfront.net/res/product/DSM7/NAKIVO_Backup_Replication_v10.7.1.69062_Updater_Synology_arm_v8.sh

Then you can perform the following steps:

Create a new folder "Update" under OPT directory.

    1. mkdir /opt/Update

Copy the downloaded file to the new directory

    2. /opt/Update

    3. Stop NAKIVO services: Package center -- Installed -- NAKIVO -- Action -- Stop.

    4. Connect to your Synology via SSH (Putty) using an admin account.

    5. Get root privileges running the following command:

    sudo -i

Enter your admin password when prompted.

Then go to the Update folder

    6. cd /opt/Update

Run the following commands to update the existing NAKIVO Backup&Replication with the newest version:

    7. chmod +x installer_file.sh

And continue the installation as the below steps show.

    8 ./NAKIVO_Backup_Replication_vv10.7.1.69062__Updater_Synology_.sh

    9. Start NAKIVO services: Package center -- Installed -- NAKIVO -- Action -- Start.

Note: Please download the proper file as the Synology system you have if x86 or ARM CPU.

If you have a SAAS repo, please de-attached before the update.

Feel free to let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with, and we will get back to you.

Any idea of the ETA of Nakivo for support of Esxi 8.0?

@Arch Parks Thank you for reaching out to us!

We know that the new vSphere 8.0 version has been released, and our Team is already working on the compatibility.

Currently, we have the following plans:

    1. Compatibility support will be implemented in v10.7.2. We expect it in early November 2022.

    2. Full vSphere v8 support is expected in v10.8:

    - The beta version is scheduled for November 2022;

    - The GA is scheduled for December 2022.

Be aware that this is a preliminary plan. So, the dates can be changed.

We sincerely apologize for this temporary inconvenience; our Team is working hard to ensure your most satisfactory experience with our software.

Thank you for your reply. I don't think this really has anything to do with it because of the following

1 - I have already removed every job and started with a clean sheet prior to posting the issue

2 - I also refreshed all the various pages and rebooted the machine from a fully turned off state, again prior to posting the original issue.

But for the record, I tried this again.

The Transporter hangs on refreshing at 40% and the Inventort error keeps coming back when I cancel it.

I think I really need to get in at the cmd level and force kill/remove the invetory and transporter.

@naktyro Thank you for the information provided. Please generate and send us a new support bundle with the main database for further investigation. Do not forget to specify your ticket number #167256 in the description. Check a guide: https://helpcenter.nakivo.com/display/NH/Support+Bundles

I'm using Wasabi Explorer, running it on the same Windows machine that my Nakivo Transporter runs on.  Wasabi Explorer also lets you increase the number of threads in use.  I cranked it up awhile ago, and now I'm getting speeds around 150 MBps (1200 Mbps) while Nakivo limps along at 20 Mbps

I'll likely need to set up a test job for steps 1-3.  The backup that I'm trying to copy up to Wasabi now is 12TB, and I estimate it will take 8 more days to finish.

We just purchased some Wasabi storage and starting a Nakivo copy job to get some of our data up in the cloud.

The copy is running extremely slow, averaging about 10-15Mbps.  When I manually copy files into a Wasabi bucket (with another piece of software) I can get over 30MBps (240Mbps) easily, using the exact same hardware.  I know that Nakivo will create some overhead in copying from a local repository into a cloud repository, but this amount (16 times slower) is unacceptable.

Is there a way to configure Nakivo to run this any faster?
