Recovery when everything else fails

Hi Guys,

I can't seem to find an answer for browsing all these topics in the forum, so here it goes:

We have a small VMWare installation with a couple of VMs running windows  in a domain environment.
We backup all of these vms onto a qnap (nas) device everyday. We also have an external USB disk where we daily copy all backups for offsite storage.
Now we want to simulate a disaster where we have nothing else available due to a disaster and the only thing remaining is the offsite disk.

I can connect this disk to my laptop and see the files, but how do I proceed to have these backups restore on VMware Workstation on my laptop?
I would just need to recover certain vms to retrieve some information, not have a full working solution, just access to files.
How would I go about configuring this?

Hi @KJiandani,

Here are the steps to restore your VMs from your offsite storage:

1. Deploy a new NAKIVO Backup & Replication instance:
Install NAKIVO Backup & Replication on your laptop or another machine.

2. Add your offsite storage as a repository to the new installation:
Add your USB disk as an existing backup repository.

3. Restore the data you need:
Restore the needed VMs or files.
