I am seeing warnings about 2950 corrupted items in my OneDrive, which have been skipped during the backup process.

So I looked through all the files in the CSV report and compared them with the actual files on OneDrive.

I noticed, that all the files are 0KB files, but they are NOT corrupted, they are supposed to be 0KB, because they are empty.
But the programs using these files will need them, even if they are empty.

So why doesn't Nakivo backup those 0Kb files? If I need a full restore of my OneDrive, they are REALLY important.

Best regards,
Lorenz

Hi @Stegerius,

Since v10.11.12, the following items are skipped during a job run for OneDrive and SharePoint Online, and they are added to the Skipped Items Report:

 - SharePoint and OneDrive files with 0 byte size

Please refer to our release note under Micrsofot 365:

Please don't hesitate to write to us if you have more questions.

I am really sorry, but that sounds like a really stupid decision to me.
Those 0 byte files aren't there for fun. Some programs are creating them because they need them.
And after a potential restore, they would be missing and the programs won't run anymore.
So what's the need of a backup then?

As a backup solution, you should backup eveything as it is, even 0 byte files.

I cannot find this limitation in any other Microft 365 backup solution so far (like Competitor, Storware, etc.).
I have just read through their documentations.

Can you please explain, why exactly this decision was taken?

Thank you,
Lorenz

Hi @Stegerius,

The issue has to do with Microsoft's API not being able to receive zero-byte files, and they are marked as corrupted or are skipped.

Our Development Team is looking into this and is improving logs, messages, and reporting regarding these errors.

We expect to release all improvements for M365 skipped items in NAKIVO Backup & Replication v11.0 to be released later this year.
