Hello to everyone, I'm traying to deploy   Nakivo  to a customer of mine, I'm proposing Nakivo and convinced the customer to dismiss Competitor 12.3.
I can't add a Windows 2016 Hypervisor to the  inventory,  it keeps  returning this error " server is not reachable. Please check the connection and server availability".

The fact is that I Installed the transporter on the server first,  I didn't try to  simply add the Hyperviros from the Director which is installed ona Qnap NAS, Infact, I was able to add the phisical host simlesly, but there's no way to add the hypervisor + VM to the inventory.
Probabily this was a big mistake.


I removed the transporter, hoping that providing the Admin credentials from the director( + ip address) would  this time complete the inventory and install the transporter but I had no avail.


I checked Iscsi initiatior service and is up and working as a service on the hypervisor.
I can ping the server  either from the network itself and through the vpn (behind a Nat), however, I can't get this inventory done, can anyone help me out wit hsome good advices? please.
(The NAS with the director installed is in the same network with the Hypervisor).

The thing that bothers me is that I was able via IP to do the phisical machine inventory wuthout problems, but I failed miserably with the hyper-v inventory,  therefore, the NAS was able to see it via network as a phisical host,  the story is different for the other role.

Please, Help me, I'lll have to show that Nakivo is the right product, but it will be impossibile for me to convince teh customer to buy  if I'm stuck with this annoying problem, thank you.

Please make sure that the following prerequisites are completed to add a Hyper-V server:

  • A complete GUI installation of Windows Server.
  • Full administrative permissions.
  • The default administrative shares are enabled on Hyper-V hosts.
  • The “File Server” role is enabled on Hyper-V hosts.
  • The SMB (1.x, 2.x, 3.x) protocol should be enabled on Hyper-V hosts.
  • 2019, 2022 Hyper-V Server Core (with the Server Core App Compatibility Feature on Demand package) is supported.
  • Confirm that the WinRM service is running over the HyperV server and that port 5986 is listening.
  • The Required TCP Ports for Hyper-V are allowed and not blocked by the Firewall or Antivirus.
