User Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 Hello, is there a way to delete more then one recovery point of a single VM like in a "bulk mode"? We occasionally have unused VMs that we delete but want to keep their last recovery point. All the other 20 older recovery points are then deleted. Until now we have been deleting each recovery point individually using the delete option of the recovery point. This approach is highly inefficient. Even if you select multiple recovery points, you can only delete one of them using the "delete" option. The existing "Bulk delete" is not applicable in our case because it would also delete recovery points from other VMs. So I'm looking for a delete feature like "bulk delete" which is deleting only recovery points of a single VM. How can we do it? Quote

How can we do it? The only way to remove multiple recovery points is to use the 'delete in bulk' option. To permanently delete several backups that match specific criteria, follow the steps below: In the main menu of NAKIVO Backup & Replication, click Settings. 1. Go to the Repositories tab. 2. Hover over a Federated repository. 3. On the right side, click the ellipsis Manage button and then click Delete backups in bulk. 4. In the Bulk Delete Backups dialog box that opens, select one of the available options: 5. All backups not belonging to any job 6. The dialog shows the number of backups to be deleted. 7. Click Next. 8. The Bulk Delete Backups dialog box opens, displaying the list of backups to be deleted. 9. Click Delete to confirm the deletion of backups. Quote
User Posted December 1, 2025 Author Posted December 1, 2025 I know this feature, but it's not working for my problem. I don't want to delete "All backups not belonging to any job" but I want to delete "All backups belonging to one VM exept the latest backup". I think this is a missing feature and it's not so difficult to implement it. The feature could be easily enabled either by using the existing checkboxes when deleting individual backups (see screenshot) or by allowing the selection of individual backups for deletion during a bulk delete. I don't understand why the existing checkboxes arn't working for the delete option. It seems to be a bug. Quote

Generate a new support bundle with the option "Include the main database" then send it to us for logs investigation. Specify your ticket number #364999 in the description. Some detailed descriptions and screenshots will be useful https://helpcenter.nakivo.com/User-Guide/Content/Settings/Support-Bundles.htm Quote
User Posted February 3 Author Posted February 3 I think you misunderstood my post. I don't want a support case, I described an improvement of the Nakivo application which should be forwarded to the application developers. Quote

Please pass on there are multiple customers looking for this feature. Especially in scenarios where there are frequent incremental backups, it can take well over an hour to delete the oldest full backup set and associated incrementals: Click each incremental backup, select Delete, WAIT for the deletion, click the next newest incremental backup, and follow that process until you work your way through dozens, sometimes hundreds of incremental backups to finally have the option to delete the full backup those incremental backups relied on. The user above's suggestion to be able to checkmark several backups and bulk delete is highly sought after, and also the ability to delete a given Full backup even if incrementals are based on that backup (ie: Right now, you cannot delete a Full backup run if there are incrementals that rely on that backup. Instead, it should warn the user that there are incrementals that rely on this backup, and give the user the option to choose to delete that Full backup and ALL associates incremental backups that rely on that Full backup). Dear @TLS, Thank you for sharing such a detailed explanation of your workflow and the challenges you’re experiencing. We completely understand how time-consuming it can be to remove large backup chains when there are many incremental backups involved. We want to assure you that the following feature is under active development. That said, feedback like yours is extremely valuable in helping us prioritize enhancements. We’ll be sure to update the community once there is progress or more information to share. Quote
