Hyper-V VM and host physical machine backup

Hello,

I've deployed Nakivo on a Synology NAS. I have a physical server running Windows Server 2012 R2 with several roles. Inside this machine, a VM machine is running using Hyper-V.

My plan was to add in Nakivo two backup jobs:

1) Backup job for the Hyper-V VM machine (in this way, I have the flexibility to restore it separately if needed)

2) Backup job for the physical server (excluding the VM inside it if possible)

But after completing step 1 with no problem, if I attempt to add the backup job for the physical server, I obtain this error when it detects that a Hyper-V job has been configured previously for that physical machine:

Physical Machine Agent cannot be installed on the "192.168.0.250" machine. This machine already contains a Transporter

Is the only available way to make a full physical machine backup, including the VM in the same batch?

Thanks in advance !

Yes, it is. Currently, NAKIVO already has deployed the transporter in the physical with Hyper-V Server role you can check in the Inventory. Accordingly, you can not deploy one more transporter in the same physical with the Physical Server role again. In this case, we suggest keeping the current status to backup VMs from the Hyper-V Server role better than you back up the Physical Server.

Since NAKIVO doesn't support the features below:

1. Recovery from Physical to Physical.

2. Recovery from Physical to Hyper-V

On the other hand, NAKIVO is planned for:

1. Backup and Recovery from Physical to VMWare

2. Backup and Recovery from Hyper-V to Hyper-V

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi,

Has NAKIVO support the features of Recovery from Physical to Physical now?

Hello, @javely7 Thank you for your question. This is a new feature. Sorry, but we do not have ETA for this feature yet. We will inform you as soon as we have it. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with, and we will get back to you. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
