    Ok, thank you for the information. That's disappointing as now I need to find a download for the Windows version of NAKIVO, https://d96i82q710b04.cloudfront.net/res/product/NAKIVO Backup_Replication v10.9.0.76010 Updater.exe but the one that matches the transporter version available on Synology.

    Alternatively do you have the download link like above but for just the Synology Transporter version so I can install it via SSH? Specifically it's transporter version 10.8.0.n72947

    Thanks in advance 🙂

    @Bedders , your information/request has been received and forwarded to our Level 2 Support Team. Meanwhile, the best way for both sides would be to generate and send a support bundle (https://helpcenter.nakivo.com/display/NH/Support+Bundles) to support@nakivo.com so our Technical Support team can investigate your issue having more details.

    Can we run the 10.9 installation on the Synology using the 'Manual Install' in the Package Centre instead of using SSH?

    Hello, @Bedders. Manual installation of DSM 7 is not possible due to a limitation of Synology. Thank you for your patience during the investigation process and your interest in NAKIVO Backup & Replication!

    Hi, this was Support's response. I had understood that I would have an answer, even if it took a long time, for the problem, for those who are not subscribed

    Our records show that (Distribuidora Memphis Ltda) is out of support, upgrades, and maintenance. The support end date is M/D/Y (like March 9, 2022). Please contact our Sales Department (sales@nakivo.com) to renew the support.

    Should you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    @Ezequiel Kich You've received the response from the Support Team. Our focus has always been on subscribed client base. At this point, I don't possess any supplementary input to provide. Your comprehension is greatly appreciated.

    hello, but I have no active subscription. Can I send the Support Bundle?

    @Edd Kindly send your request to support@nakivo.com, and the Support Team will give it priority in their tasks. Naturally, tickets from clients with active subscriptions will receive elevated priority.

    I need to restore 1 file from a LINUX server. I have a Recovery Server with Ubuntu 20.04, which I've always used to do this kind of task. I am no longer able to restore. The process starts, but the JOB stops afterwards. Disks are not mounted on the linux server to be able to recover files. I collected a lot of responses in the all_logs_except_inventory.log file, the most relevant ones I put below. Nakivo version is 10.4.1 (build 59587 from 21 Oct 2021)

    @Loki RodriguezYes, thank you for the update. You can find the information in my references list. Also, I recommend paying particular attention to the Network Acceleration feature, which is extremely useful in speeding up VM backup and replication jobs.

    Speaking about VMware backups, VMware Monitoring from NAKIVO is worth mentioning: https://www.nakivo.com/it-monitoring/vmware-monitoring

    It actually helps to optimize the performance of environment and resolve the issues that can cause the problems with speed.

  7. Magnetic tape vs. disk-based backup.

    For larger organizations that use disk-to-disk backups, tape can augment the primary backup target by providing longer and more durable data storage than what a disk array can provide by itself.

    Customers may improve their backup process by combining the two, since disk and tape have their own strengths and weaknesses:

    Disks are not usually portable, while tapes are easily movable.
    Tapes and disks are generally reliable, but a single disk error can render an entire series of backups useless because many disk-based backup applications perform block-level incremental backups.
    Many disk-based products perform backups continuously throughout the day, while tape is backed up less frequently.
    Tape backup security best practices
    It's important to protect your tape backup system. There are several ways to make data on tape more secure:

    Encrypt the data.
    Ship tapes off site as soon as they have been written, to limit opportunities for them to be stolen.
    Use a reputable service for off-site tape storage.
    Control physical access to the tape drives.
    Technical challenges with tape backup
    There are hurdles to clear when using tape for backup:

    tape rotation logistics;
    ensuring adequate bandwidth between the data source and the tape drives;
    scheduling tape drive maintenance;
    capacity planning; and
    completing backups within a backup window.
